01 The Measure of a Life

From a student volunteer in 1977 to a Minister of the State, P. K. Basheer has built a career defined not by office, but by service, rooted in Edavanna, carried across Ernad, and measured in the institutions, hospitals and homes he has helped raise.

The son of the late P. Seethi Haji, himself a Member of the Legislative Assembly and Chief Whip, he inherited a tradition of public life and renewed it for a new generation. Three consecutive electoral victories, each by a wider margin, speak to a trust that has only deepened with time.

A Tradition of Compassion

Where empathy
becomes infrastructure.

The Seethi Haji Cancer Detection Centre and Dialysis Centre at Edavanna, among the few of their kind in Kerala, were built from a simple conviction: that the poorest deserve the finest care. Today, as convenor of the Mundakkai–Chooralmala rehabilitation, that same conviction is rebuilding entire communities.

Public service, to me, is not a title or an ornament, but a responsibility. For as long as the people demand it, I will stand beside them.
